Happy new year! As we approach the end of NWCS's 2019-2020 fall semester, I would like to make a few important announcements regarding this class.
First, it is gifted testing month! If your child has already taken all or some of their exams, I am confident that they gave it their all and performed exceptionally. For those who have upcoming exams, I would like to extend my greatest support and I wish the best of luck. You got this! Due to the nature of this class only meeting once a week, we weren't able to cover everything over the course of this past semester, but we hit the most important aspects tested on gifted qualification exams.
Secondly, there are 3 class sessions remaining this semester. Here is my general plan for these classes:
Week 14 (1/18/2020): Students will work with a team to complete a practice test. Then, there are two more topics left for me to cover this semester. States of Matter and Geography. I will touch on these and then provide a mini final review session.
Week 15 (1/25/2020): Fall Semester Final Exam
Week 16 (2/1/2020): Hand back results from final exam, go over it, have students exchange their tickets for prizes, fall semester party. Now, this is my plan for this last class session. However, if the level 1 class does a project, we may also work together with them during this class. More details on this later on if necessary.
If your child will need to miss any of these class sessions, please inform me in advance. Especially Week 15. For those students who will miss the final exam, please email me and I will send another version of the exam over email after Week 15.
Thirdly, please check TeacherEase! It is all up to date as of yesterday with past assignments and scores, as well as upcoming assignments. If your child has any missing assignments from this semester, the last time I will accept late work will be the day of the final exam. It is helpful now to reference your child's scores on past assignments to judge how much effort they will need to put onto the final exam. Fourth, after Week 16 (2/1/2020), you will need to re register your child for this same class if you would like them to stay until the end of the school year in June. The second semester of this class will be very different from the first semester. You can now register your child for the second semester of this class with this link: http://www.nwchinese.org/newSite/registration
Fifth, as I am constantly adjusting my teaching practices for the benefit of my students, please fill out this survey: https://mrhansondai.weebly.com/surveys.html
You can provide me with honest feedback on this survey. I will be reading over all responses before the start of the second semester, so that I can improve any areas where I received tips.
Sixth, I have officially received all cash, check, and match donations to our class funds. If you would still like to make a donation to our class funds, you can still do so! Please inform me if you would like to. I will be sure to use these funds to reward students during upcoming class sessions.
Lastly, remember to keep checking the class website from now until the end of the semester for any updates on classwork and homework: https://mrhansondai.weebly.com/gifted-exploration-2
Should you have any questions or comments, please feel free to let me know!
Have a wonderful rest of your week and enjoy the winter weather!
