Greetings and salutations English Learners!
You are receiving this email because you are on my English Language Arts 2-3 2020-2021 fall semester roster. Please read this email to its entirety as it contains important information for you and your student to know before class begins!
1. Meet the Teacher
My name is Hanson Dai (aka Mr. Hanson) and I'll be your student's teacher for this class this school year. I'm very excited and looking forward to working with you all! For more detailed information about me and my teaching work, please visit my website: mrhansondai.com In addition, you can find my contact information below. Feel free to add me and/or reach out to me for any questions, comments, or concerns!
Cell Phone/WeChat: (425) 395-6120 (texts only please!)
2. About the Class
Time: Saturdays starting 9/19/2020 (NWCS calendar applies)
Class Sessions: 32 (16 per semester), 50 minutes each time (12:00pm-12:50pm - Section B)
Class sessions will be done through Zoom. I will send out the recurring Zoom meeting invitation link prior to when the first class session begins. Please keep your eye out for that.
Homework will be accomplished online through a learning management system called TeacherEase and Google Drive. You should have received an email earlier today with directions on setting up your student's own personalized login for TeacherEase. As for our class Google Drive, you'll receive detailed information on that after the first class session.
3. A Few Homework Assignments DUE BEFORE THE FIRST CLASS!
Log on to TeacherEase and you'll see the assignments and their directions. There are 4 and they are all due before the start of the first class!
4. REQUIRED Materials
PLEASE NOTE that students ARE REQUIRED to purchase a workbook for this class. It's okay if your student does not have it yet during the first few weeks, but we will hopefully begin using it by the first class in October. Here is the link to place an order on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Spectrum-Language-Arts-Grade-3/dp/1483812065/ref=sr_1_4?dchild=1&keywords=spectrum+language+arts&qid=1599540969&sr=8-4
I would also like students to have a brand new notebook (spiral or composition) ready by the first class session so that they can take notes and participate in writing activities during class sessions. This is also REQUIRED.
The rest of the materials involve the obvious: pencils, pens, and erasers. I will provide the rest of the learning resources and materials that they need in order to be successful in this course.
That's all for this email. I will be sending out more emails in the next few days and weeks, so please keep your eye out for those!
Have a great weekend and see you all in class!
Mr. Hanson Dai
