Classwork - Week #8 (11/3/2018)
1. MID-TERM EXAM - I'VE ENTERED THE SCORES IN TEACHEREASE, IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO CHECK!
The class average for the Mid-Term Exam was 81%. The scores were also "curved". The test was originally out of 119 points, but was "curved" to 113 points. If your child scored above 100%, then that means they did better than the "curve", which is exceptional.
In general, students performed extremely well. Keep up the great work!
I will hand the test papers back next class
1. Textbook pages 39-44
2. Typed Up Quarter 1 Summary Essay
3. Mid-Term Exam
All work that students turned in to me thus far, were handed back yesterday.
Next Class: Go over selected Mid-Term Exam questions and begin Unit 2 - Sentences
PLEASE NOTE THAT THERE IS NO CLASS ON 11/10 (NEXT SATURDAY) DUE TO THE NHS SKI SWAP. CLASS WILL RESUME ON SATURDAY NOVEMBER 17TH, 2018.
Homework - Week #8 (11/3/2018)
1. Begin "Outside Reading Project"
For this week's homework, I would like students to select a chapter book (appropriate to their reading level) that they will be reading until the end of this semester (early January). Chose a book that is long enough to last until early January. From now on, students will be writing one page summaries on what they read in the chapter book every week, along with their regular homework in this class. This will serve as their "Outside Reading Project" Record (ORP Record). At the end of the semester, students will be preparing a book report on the book, that they will be presenting to the entire class to practice their public speaking skills. This week, once students have chosen the chapter book they want to read, I would like them to begin reading at least 4 chapters (2 chapters a week), and then write a 2 page summary on what they read (since there is no class next week). This 2 page summary is due next class for credit (11/17/2018). It can be typed or handwritten. Please bring the selected chapter book to the next class as well.
There is no textbook homework for this week.
1. I will return stamp sheets to students next class so that they can continue to collect stamps.
2. Enjoy your break next weekend!
3. ALL GRADES FOR WEEKS 1-8 ARE UP TO DATE IN TEACHEREASE. CHECK!
Should you have any questions or concerns, please always feel free to contact me!
Cheers to making it halfway through the semester!
Have an excellent two weeks, and see you all on November 17th!
